Plus One and Reflection

Plus One
Out of all the workshops, I enjoyed writing the most, as I felt it was most relevant to what I want to do as a career and what I've done in the past. The idea of using dialogue to portray a scene intrigued me, So I decided to write a new piece without the limitations of the brief we were given in the workshop. While this piece also is loosely about the death of a loved one, and also involves a lot of confrontation and conflict, that is about where the similarities end. I wanted to continue with the idea of portraying information such as a characters death without outright saying it, as I feel this is more realistic, and portraying this through emotion is more impactful for the reader. This piece is about a family escaping the attention of their hometown by going to a popular tourist destination they live close to, however, I've set up for there to be something sinister about the place and the reason it's so successful, however, I've only written the opening as I feel this is an interesting couple of scenes that sets up for what the rest of the script would be if I was to continue it, which I eventually intend to do. I also feel that the opening will be the only part that relates to the workshop the coffee shop script I wrote.
