Initial Idea and Research

Research and Development 2 ideas:
Of Nature
Having life out of its natural context:
Set: pristine, white backdrop and floor – blank canvas/contextless/unnatural
Subjects: Tortoise, Snake, Lizard, Fish, pineapple, watermelon, strawberry, raw chicken
Audio: Erhu- Ancient Chinese instrument: provides a very tranquil, passive experience which encapsulates the emotions provoked by the message of the death of nature and the industrialisation of our world. https://youtu.be/6jbfooDPN00
Ideas:
  • ·         ink dropped into fish tank (into a separate fish tank either in front of or behind the one with the fish in so it looks like its in the same tank)
  • ·        Tortoise crawling towards food (same concept with snake and lizard)
  • ·        Snake in a swirl position

Scheduling and authorisation of subjects in studio problems.
  • ·        Having the fruit and raw chicken in the tank with the ink being dropped in
  • The subjects in the tank represent life and nature, and the ink represents death, decay and artificial treatments of nature.
  • The all white environment, while providing a more aesthetic experience and no distraction from the subjects in focus, also represents artificial treatments and industrialism of nature.
